News from Montgomery [2.7.16]

2/7,  I guess the sun did not come out to warm it above freezing today, so no sap flow for Connor and Liam Walker.   This week they get home from school and attend to their job of gathering sap with the help from their grandfather Jon Walker.  The boys Dad Trevor W. purchased a small holding tank for the boys to put the sap in, Grampa Jon puts it on the back of his truck and the boys gather sap and put it in the holding tank.  So cute, and these boys are such great workers and Connor has boiled this week and made some nice tasting syrup.  YummY!!!

2/5, I, accompanied my brother Allen and his wife Roberta Martin to attend the funeral of our niece Brenda Corliss’ husband Rodney, in Tunbridge, Vt.  Also other family members were there that I had not seen for awhile.  We got to visit during our fellowship time while we ate our lunch which was nice.  On the way back home we stopped in Stowe to surprise  my daughter Veronica DeSaint Phalle, she was on the phone scheduling an appointment and was unaware of my presence and her Aunt Roberta.  When she finally had time to notice us, her face was one of shock.  We only spent a few minutes with her but that was ok, just to say Hello and see where she works.  Thanks Bud and Bert for having me come along, it was great being with you to and fro and I Sincerely Thank You!!

2/6, Ava Walker celebrated her 8th Birthday with her  Daddy, Mommy and brothers Connor and Liam and friends from school. The party was held at the home of her grandparents Jon and Barbara Walker on South Richford Road.  Grammy Barbara and Maggie Elkins decorated the basement with pink ribbons, balloons, etc. and Ava was so surprised!!   It became a beautiful place for the children to dance and sing on Ava’s new Karaoke machine.  They wanted to have a sliding party for the children but no SNOW.   Ava said she had a wonderful time and the children all got to make their own ice cream sundae..Yum-Yum.!!  They had birthday cake at home later that Mommy made.

I received news today of Charlie Pudvah passing away.  He and Patty have made their home in Florida for the past few years.  He lived here in the Village for several years and was well known by most everyone.  Our deepest heartfelt Sympathy to all the family and friends.   God Bless!!!

The Montgomery and Richford Conservation Commission’s, and the  Montgomery Library are co-hosting a fundraiser on Wednesday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Hall (Old Grange) in Montgomery Center.  We will be showing the film, “JUMBO WILD.”  The admission fee (at the door) is $5.00.  Patagonia presents this gripping, hour long documentary film by Sweetgrass Productions that tells the true story of the decades long battle over the future of British Columbia’s iconic Jumbo Valley, and highlights the tension between the production of wilderness and the backcountry experience and ever increasing development interests in wild places.

Happy Birthday to: Marvin Rusk 2/14, Eve Sampietro, Athena Abramowitz 2/15, Tyler Elkins, Ray Courville, Vivian Deuso, Marnie Bimm 2/16.

Anniversary Wishes to Richard and Prudy Ryea.
