News from Montgomery [2.13.16]

2/13, Holee-tamolee, this weekend was cold, I dressed in layers to clean the side walk here at home and down to the Church and that wind got right through what I was wearing, BRRRRR!!! Oh, well it will be short lived if the weather predictions is correct. Today 2/14, we had 18 below this morning and it is now 3:30 and the temp is 5 above, quite the heat wave, but I guess that is about as good as its going to get. I had a nice Valentine’s Day hope everyone reading this did also. My hubby fixed a nice dinner for me and made me a card, which was a big surprise and so thoughtful. I remember my Mom preferred homemade cards. I still have cards my kids made me when they were in grade school. The way kids draw pictures and write haven’t changed much, so precious!!!

2/9, Our 500 Card Club met at the lovely home of Theresa and Gaston Begnoche, Theresa had invited the club to meet at noon time and she had prepared a hearty luncheon for everyone. For dessert she had made a delicious raspberry crisp. Everyone was ready to start playing cards at 12:45. There was a few bad hands dealt at my table and unable to make a bid or no face cards. Rita St.Onge had high score for the afternoon and Rita was a sub for Jo Cota, Second high was Denise Baker, most horses was won by Connie McFarland. Helen Parent was sub in the absence of Sue Cherrier. Jeannette Sylvester will host the next meeting on March 8th. She asked that we meet at 1 p.m.

Notice: “The Montgomery Town Library now has snowshoes available free of charge for public use. (Security deposit required). This was a donation from RiseVt in collaboration with Vermont Dept. of Health and Northwestern Medical Center. Check Library hours for availability.”

Happy Birthday to: Bernie Boucher 2/21, Kalisha Brooks & Jake Webster 2/22, Morgan Daybell, Bernie Cousino, Gracie Lanphear 2/24, Tim Chapin, Roberta Martin 2/27.

Anniversary wishes to Thim and Morgan Bohm 2/27.

I found these sayings I will be sharing with you readers on an email sent to me awhile ago. I’m sure many can relate to them when we were growing up. 1. My Mother taught me religion. “You better pray that will come out of the carpet.” 2. My Mother taught me more logic. “If you fall out of that swing and break your neck, you’re not going to the store with me.” Sound familiar to anyone?

I wish you all a nice week and remember to be nice to all we meet,
L.T.A.
