News from Montgomery [2.21.16]

2/21, As I start this column the sun is coming out, after showers all morning long, almost like sugaring snow. Sonny checked the tapped trees here in our yard and the sap is beginning to come forth a little bit. Connor and Liam Walker and their grandfather have gathered once this week. It’s nice being senior citizens and watch the younger folks take over and do the things we used to. That could be a whole column in itself remembering all the chores we had growing up on a farm. I think one of my scariest chores was cleaning the pig pen when the pigs were big, they seemed so huge to me and they liked to sniff and snort when I went in the pen.

Today, the United Methodist Church held its 2015 Church Reports following the morning service and then we all enjoyed Pot-luck dinner. It was so cute Lucille made the remark as we gathered for Church and everyone bringing in their food and it smells so good, she said, “the Pastor will have to speak louder as our stomachs will all be growling smelling all this food.” We had lots of delicious dishes and desserts and no one went away hungry. Thanks to all that came and shared this day with us.

2/19, Kenny Snider from Hampton, N.H. came up over the weekend to visit his mom Betsy Snider. I was talking with Betsy and asked her how her grandson Cody Snider was doing since his motorcycle accident. Cody lives in Florida and had been in a terrible accident, but is now home and Betsy said he is doing much better. God Bless!!

I’m going to share a true story I thought was so cute and made me laugh and laugh. We have a small dog named Willee, he is so funny at times, When I have my oatmeal in the mornings I always leave some in the bottom of my dish for him, Well this particular morning he didn’t want it, so I left it beside him on the couch where he usually eats it. I came back about 15 minutes later and there was no dish, just a clump of blankets piled up, I uncovered the dish that he carefully covered up and did not spill a drop. Once I uncovered it, he did eat it. Sometimes I pick on him and tell him I’m going to give it to the birds. He will be 12 years old this week.

This is all for now folks and hope you have a nice week,

L.T. A.
