News from Montgomery [6.12.16]

Is this June or October, brrr.  But looking back on the weather that I have kept a calendar on for the past few years, usually in June around Dairy Day week we get this cool spell.  The wind has been very brisk and cold today and we have used our furnace for the past three days.

6/12, The United Methodist Church had two baptism’s today, Kate Dempsey and Allen Hurlbut  were baptized before the Congregation and they also became members of our Church along with Lucille Johnson, Jack and Terry Goss.  Following the Church Service we had Pot-Luck in the Fellowship Hall.  There was plenty of delicious food and our cake was inscribed  “Welcome To Our Church Family.”   Congratulations to these Folks!!!

6/7, Betsy Snider invited the ladies of the Green Mountain Ruby Reds to come to her home and have their annual pot-luck birthday party.  There were 14 ladies in attendance, each bringing food to share.  Betsy made the beautiful home-made birthday cake.   After eating and chatting we played our favorite game and went home around 3 p.m.  Everyone had a wonderful  fun-filled afternoon.  We enjoyed each others stories,  and one really cute story from a grandmothers little 3 year old granddaughter.  She asked her Grammie, “Why do bears wear socks?”  Grammie said, “ I don’t know, Why”….Because they are bare-foot.  We eat well, laugh a lot and enjoy each other’s company.    Thanks so much to Betsy for having us all come and have a good time!!! Diane Bocian had filled a purple bucket with goodies for our door prize and the lucky winner was Nancy Bessette.   Sandy Cota gave many of her Mother’s (Evelyn Hart) Red Hat items to us and I took them to share with the ladies.

6/5, A special Thanks to all that came and gave blood it was a successful drive collecting 30 usable pints of blood.   The next blood drive is scheduled for August 7, will be at St. Isidore’s Parish Hall, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thanks Joan Grossman for all that you do and all the other volunteers that work on this event.
