News from Montgomery [7.24.16]

7/24, It’s a beautiful sunny morning now that the storms have passed by. Some places in Vermont were without electricity due to the severe storms. Coming home yesterday from St. Albans the sky was black as night, I guess we were just a little ahead of the storm that was coming in, once home and in the house, we got a down pour, BUT not as bad as the one that hit us on the 18th, the wind and rain was ferocious, we could not see the big house across the street. The storm blew in so fast and left as fast, the sun was back out in minutes, and that was the way it was all day long. The evening storm that came in had large hail Barbara Walker told me, as they live on the So. Richford Road; Then today I heard from my friend Rachel Robitaille that her son had lots of damage to their vehicles and siding on their home as they live up just off the South Richford Road.

7/24, Rachel Robitaille and I were treated to lunch and dessert by our friend Terry Zartarian, we had lobster roll at McDonalds, had fried ice cream at Devon’s , IT WAS DELICIOUS!!! Thanks Terry!!!

7/9 & 10, John and Barbara Walker took their grandson Connor W. to Maine for the weekend. They enjoyed shopping, eating out and Connor especially loved his lobster meal and swimming. Connor also made purchases to bring his parents Trevor and Jodi, brother Liam and sister Ava a gift. They had a wonderful time and spectacular weather!!

7/22, The Construction Crew that has been resurfacing our Route 118, must be nearing completion, it looks nice, with all the yellow and white lines completed. I talked with several of the crew members during their break or upon getting here in the mornings and they were all very respectable and nice.

Also the Montgomery Historical Society is getting new clock faces, new paint and before completion to have the roof painted. It’s a big job and looking great!!!

7/21, Good friends, Maggie Elkins, Pamela Colburn, Maryann Mercy got together and went out for lunch at Bernie’s Restaurant, then came back to Maggie’s home and sat on her front porch to reminisce.

7/23, Ray and Betty Courville invited Sonny, Lois and Penny Lumbra, Sally Newton and son John to join them for dinner at the Lucky Buffet in St. Albans. This was also a celebration of Sonny, Betty and Sally’s recent birthdays. We had a wonderful time and should do it more often.

Happy Birthday to: Alan Marshall, Lois Babbitt, Sara Domina, Dawn Davidson, Tess Beemer 7/31, Theresa Barnes 8/1, Deanna Sylvester, Helen Taylor 8/2, Isla Wayland 8/3, Trevor Walker 8/4, Megan Martinson 8/5, Linda Elkins, Nat Loughlin, Eric Brooks II 8/6.

** Q. asked on a TV show many years ago: Back in the old days when my great grandfather put horseradish on his head, What was he trying to do? A. Trying to get it in his mouth. **

That’s all for this week folks and hope you are all enjoying the summer, Love to All. God Bless!!!
