News from Montgomery [9.18.16]

This has been a gorgeous week, and the leaves have been turning rather rapidly, perhaps due to the dryness. While out on the back roads in our short travels this week, we saw two beautiful doe on the Boston Post Road, and on West Hill Road we saw 11 young turkeys eating in the field.

Maggie Elkins won a dozen balls for being closest to the pin on hole #9 at Enosburg Falls Country Club in the Member-Member Tournament on 9/9-10. There were twelve women playing and no one else got on the green. My sister was AWESOME!!! When I saw her name on the scoreboard for all to see, I (Susie Ewins) was sooooo proud. Congratulations Maggie, You are just a SWINGING!!! LL Maggie has also enjoyed the company of her granddaughter Emma Roger and a Friend of Emma’s this week.

30th Reunion: Jo Cota, Betty Clark, Alma Dulude, Annette Dulude, (Shirley Clark, did not attend) Daughters of Wilfred and Mary Lamonda, have for the past 30 years now been getting together for a Mothers, Daughters and now Granddaughters for an annual weekend of fun, and this year they all went to Ogunquit, Maine and had a wonderful-wonderful time right on the beach frontage.

On 9/13 the 500 Card Club met at the home of Jo Cota where she resides with her daughter on Sand Hill Road in Enosburg. Jo had invited us to come for lunch and we were served delicious lasagna made in a crock-pot, sandwiches, veggie platter and dips, and Jo’s delicious pumpkin’choco-chip cookies and brownies, variety of soda’s and hot tea. We started playing around 12:45 and I think I had the worse cards ever..no trick hands. Roberta Morin was sub for Linda VanGieson and she had high score of 3840, second high was Denise Baker with 3500, and most horses went to Carmen Scott. I think I had the lowest score of 1090. But it’s the fellowship and fun that is always enjoyable and then we had two adorable loving dogs Bailey and Lily welcoming everyone. The next meeting will be held on October 11 at the home of Betsy Snider with Lois Lumbra hosting.

9/17, Sonny and I went to visit nieces Pamela Martin Harris and hubby Scott from South Carolina, and Pyhllis Gratton and Mike, who were at their parents home and my brother and sister-in-law Bud and Roberta Martin on Butternut Hollow Road in Enosburg.
Then after our visit we joined our friends at Dairy Center, where we had been invited to celebrate the 50th Birthday of Alan Marshall, His wife Pamela had a surprise party for him and he thought he was going to one of Pamela’s friends party. A delicious Turkey Dinner and all the fixin’s had been prepared for many of Alan’s family and friends. It was a big surprise and a wonderful fun filled party for everyone. Congratulations Alan!!
