What weather we have endured this week, I guess we could say if you don’t like it, just wait a few minutes. This afternoon 3/5 the sun is shining brightly in our front door where we are using Plexiglas for a storm door covering and when the sun shines in during the afternoon hours, it’s like a furnace giving off heat. Nice!!! As I start this column the wind is slowly dying down and that is a relief…that wind has been sooooo cold, BRRRR!
2/24..Connie McFarland drove to Underhill and stayed overnight with her daughter Nancy Benson and Family. During the weekend her daughter Jane and hubby Joe Sanpetrino from Burlington, they all got together and went to Middlebury for a special event that was being held at The Lincoln Winery. They had a wonderful time, On the way home Sunday afternoon Connie drove through water that was over the road in Cambridge at the Wrong Way-Bridge. It was safe to go through as the State Highway crew were there. It was quite a storm that hit, when the rain first started it was such a hard storm, had it rained like that for very long we could have been easily flooded. But it let up and within an hour it was snowing. A great sugar snow!!!
3/1..Ash Wednesday, I attended the service with my friend Maggie Elkins, at St.Isidore’s Church, as our Pastor had announced earlier that he had to work and would not be able to come and do his annual service at the United Methodist Church. ( NOTE: The United Methodist Church is looking for an organist to come and play at our Sunday Services. If you or you know someone that would like this rewarding job, for more info.. give me a call at 326-4651 or Merle at 326-4536.)
2/30 &31.. Nice days for a great sap flow. The haulers were busy gathering before the big freeze set in. We have haulers that come in and gather up sap from some of the places up on the hills that sell sap. I know the few trees that are tapped here in our yard were dripping real well. Our young sugar-maker Connor Walker is anxious to sugar, and he has a new sugarhouse and its well equipped. He and his family and friends are Amazing!!!
John Youland and son Jonny have been on the road for the past week through Vermont, Mass, R.I and parts of PA. They have been checking out Universities and gathering up info as Jonny plans to attend one after he graduates, he is now a junior at BFA.
Happy Birthday to: Petra Vogel 3/12; Stuart Pratt, Leah Brown 3/14; Annie Purrier, Marshall Abramowitz 3/16; Aiden Smith 3/18.
**Smile awhile.. You have a complete set of salad bowls..that all say cool-whip on the outside.*** Did you grow up with this saying. “Use it up, wear it out, make it do.” Kinda neat isn’t it? Must have been before my day, but I came across this and thought it was worth repeating. Have a nice week folks. L.T A.
