News from Montgomery [9.17.17]

On Saturday 9/16, we received word that we are great grandparents again to a healthy baby boy Julian Lumbra, to proud parents Devon and Kerri Lumbra of Colorado. Little brother Teddy looked so surprised and just the look on his face, wondering where did he come from? Maternal grand parents here in town are Todd and Lori Pennell. Paternal grand parents Frank and Karen Lumbra of Chester, N.H… and Robin and Scott Vandenberg in Colorado. Congratulations to everyone and may God Bless!!

There were nine vendors Saturday that came to the Farmer’s Market. It seemed a bit quiet here as there was a lot going on in Enosburg with a Harvestfest, craft sales, etc. But everyone enjoyed the gorgeous weather and just to be outside. The “PUPPET SHOW” was a hoot, I enjoyed it right along with all the little children (around 35-40) that came; many sat down front on a blanket and got involved with the two people doing the show. The place was filled with hoots and laughter throughout the show. The puppet baby needed his diaper changed and many in the audience got sprayed that was a big surprise and funny, and the alligator got the kids going and just the laughter and shouts from all the little children was super fun . I could have been told how great it was, but seeing it for myself made my day, just the excitement from all the children was great knowing this fun show brought them some joy at Pratt Hall. There was a plot to the story line, don’t throw everything away, we are inclined to do just that; the children were all invited up on stage after the show and were shown that the puppets used were made from things we usually throw away. Thanks to the Library, Friends of the Library and the M. Historical Society for sponsoring.

It was wonderful seeing Andrew Sherman, and meeting his lovely wife Kristina and their son Landon. They flew into Burlington and had a visit with his Mother Maggie; then coming to town to visit with his Dad Joe Sherman and wife Martina and their daughter Adriana. Being with my daughter Veronica at the Farmer’s Market on the Saturday’s she comes I get to visit new comer’s and people from out of town. It has been GREAT!!! I’m going to mention along with our daughter’s jewelry, we have included beautiful “Barn Quilts” painted by Maggie Elkins, they are 2×2 in size, if anyone is interested contact me at 326-4651.

9/12..The 500 Card Club met at the lovely home of Sue Cherrier on the Deep Gibou Road in Montgomery Center. She invited everyone for lunch that she had prepared and dessert, which was all so delicious!! Her daughter Julie was offering a helping hand to clean up after our tummies were all filled. We were ready to start playing around one and we had no subs. At the end of the day when the totals came in, high score went to Denise Baker with 4050; second high was Marge Cummings with 3050; most horses went to Linda Van Gieson (5); and low score to Jo Cota with 1510; I wasn’t that far away from being low score again. We all laugh and joke, catch up on one another’s life and have a great time. Sue had snack bowls around to keep everyone’s sweet tooth happy. It was a wonderful afternoon and we all enjoyed Sue’s flower gardens and coming home the foliage is beginning to change and it was so beautiful. Thanks so much Sue!!!

9/14..Their were eleven members of the Green Mountain Ruby Reds that gathered at the monthly senior dinner at the Dairy Center, where we all enjoyed a delicious Chicken and Biscuit Dinner. Once we were all filled.. Our New Queen Fredda Ploof had a short meeting before we departed. On September 22 the ladies will have an outing at Waterbury..to visit the Cider Mill, Ben and Jerry’s, where they blow glass, whatever we want to do. Sounds like fun!!

Carol Kremer from Canada came down to her country home on Vincent Bridge Road over the weekend, her friends bringing her down. She enjoyed visits from her friends down here, and also the dogs that came along with their owners. She said that she misses her dog Charlie. Carol has not been feeling well for several months. She was in hopes of getting someone to come and stay with her for a week or two so she could enjoy the Fall with all its gorgeous colors.
