News from Montgomery [1.14.18]

It seems the news this week is our weather situation and all that it has brought since the beginning of our new year. We are on the roller-coaster pattern, up to 60 and down to 10 below all in one day. This last storm has created more havoc than the blizzard. The rain once here poured down for hours bringing the rivers up over there banks. There was ice jams over several towns throughout Vermont. I’m sure there are many stories, just depends who you talk too.

1/9..The 500 card club met at the lovely home of Denise Baker. She had invited the club members to come for lunch, she had prepared a delicious homemade soup, bread and or crackers, a carrot cake for dessert and hot or cold drinks and snacks. We were full and ready to start playing by one and that was the beginning of a nice afternoon. Sue Peters and Connie McFarland started at the head table and we there for the first four rounds before they had to move. The high score for the afternoon went to our hostess Denise with 2680; second high went to Marge Cummings with 2200; low score went to SueP with 810; and most horses was a three way tie between , Sue, Rita and Connie, Connie drew the high card having 4 horses. Subs for the afternoon were Rita St.Onge playing for Betsy Snider and Roberta Morin playing for Jeannette Sylvester. Therese Begnoche will host the February gathering at her home on the 13th.

There will be a “Winter’s Farmer’s Market” held on January 21, from 12-3 p.m. at the Montgomery Center of Arts building (Old Baptist Church) Come and check them out.

Eighty years ago during the depression I came across this statement made by someone, I found it very interesting. USE IT UP, WEAR IT OUT, MAKE IT DO, OR GO WITHOUT. So that is all for this week folks, may each day we are given on this earth, be filled with joy and love. L.T.A.
