4/8..Brrrr.. The weatherman was right it is colder today than Saturday. There was just a little snow squall passing through. This should be a great year for the sugar makers. My lilies have tried to come up but froze this past week. I forgot to mention last week in my column that my neighbor Gila Domina was picked up Saturday afternoon by her daughter Ruth Smith and she stayed overnight with her family and had Easter Dinner with them, before returning home on Sunday afternoon.

Announcing the engagement of Vivian Deuso to Robert (Bob) Francis Elbe of Berlin, Vermont. Bob surprised Vivian with a diamond ring on November 26, 2017, a total surprise. They are planning a wedding for later this year. (What greater joy can there be for a man and woman than to know they are destined to be together? Congratulations on your engagement, and may God Bless you two.)

Thursday morning coming down the sidewalk from getting my mail, a white car was coming up half way on the sidewalk and half in the road. As I came nearer to the car they stopped and a nice lady rolled down her window to talk with me. She said we are touring Vermont to get pictures of all the covered bridges. They had a book to guide them around. They were from Ontario, New York, a small little town. I asked them if they had stayed at Jay Peak? She said Jay Peak, What is Jay Peak? I told her and she and her husband seemed interested to go and check it out. It is amazing how big it has become up there.

4/7.. Maggie Elkins sadly had her maple tree cut down in her front yard. This tree was planted some 40 years ago by her husband Mike and their son Clay. This tree has had a stressful life, losing one limb at a time through the years. The other day during the wind storm it took one more limb down and that was the last one to ever fall until Randy St.Onge and helper Anthony came and took it all down and cleaned up the yard. The tree has been wonderful shade during hot summer days, gorgeous red foliage in the Fall up against the Fuller Bridge where the tourist came and took pictures. In the Spring it was tapped for sap by her neighbor Connor Walker, and now it will bring warmth for someone during the cold winter days.
