News from Montgomery [10.28.18]

HELLO..AS I begin this column for you..just know that I am tired, but I do want to get it done. Today is my birthday and I have worked on another report and had several call trying to get it done before starting on my news. I sincerely Thank all of you for remembering my special day. You have all made it feel special and for that I am very appreciative. (THANK-YOU!)

10/23.. Connie McFarland invited me to come with her where the Red Hat Group were meeting at the new restaurant “Farm to Table.” First of all we both had banking to do and then some shopping and filled the car with gas before we went for our Brunch. There were 15 of us that gathered for 11:30 and we pushed the tables together to sit around and chat with one another. On Tuesday’s they have a Senior Brunch with several different choices to choose from. We all ordered what we wanted, and everyone of us was very satisfied with our prepared food. We were given a warm welcome upon arrival, we all certainly appreciate the wonderful time that we enjoyed while there. Thanks To All!!!

10/15.. Thursday evening 21 young writers competed in the annual young writers contest put on by the “Friends Of The Montgomery Town Library.” Winners in the 4-5 grade group were Emily Lumbra, Benson Alexander; Winners in the 6-8 grade group were Micha Racusin and Elijah Draper. A big Thank-You to Darren Drevik, Kay Kuryloski, and Jane Pressler for the challenging job of judging. Montgomery parents and teachers are very proud of all entries.

10/27..Our daughter Veronica DeSaintPhalle from Johnson and our Niece Pamela Martin Harris planned to get together to have a Mother and Daughter day out to celebrate recent birthdays. Veronica was picking me up to join the other ladies in St.Albans. Earlier in the morning while I was out, Roberta Martin called here at my home and Sonny took the message, that there was a change in plans. Pamela’s husband Scott was taken to the hospital there in Texas with pain. She called to get a flight out of Burlington as soon as possible. She would have to be at the airport for around 10 -11. They were picking up Shirley Jacobs to come with us and they quickly called her to let her know there was an emergency. She was very understanding. IN the meantime Veronica is almost at my house to pick me up. Once Veronica came inside I explained the situation to her, she also wanted Penny to come with us, but she had other plans. We then called Roberta and invited her to come back to St.Albans and join us once Pamela was at the airport. She said depended on the weather if there was no rain or snow. Roberta’s daughter Priscilla Hammond was also meeting with us and SO would you believe there were four of us that came together at “Pie In The Sky” for lunch. Veronica had text her Aunt Jean Corse and cousin Nikki Corse to come and join us if they were in the area. They did and it was a family reunion for all of us. IT was wonderful!!! I think my birthday was celebrated the most

And it was nice, special and so appreciated. Thank You!!

10/27.. Our concert with the “Christian Country Singers” was enjoyed by the people that came. Most of their songs were written by them. They have not been on tour for a few years but they sure made a comeback Saturday night. It was so appreciated!!!

Happy Birthday to: Marcel Begnoche 11/4; Ryan Smith, Lauren Diette 11/5; Barbara Hulbut 11/6; Dan Malloy, Bobbi Jo Lumbra, Diane Gendron 11/7; Daren Davidson, Abby Dixon-Boles 11/8; Karen Scheffler 11/9.

Today while I was talking with my sister down near Windsor, she is involved with many activities down there and they were having a Halloween party for some of the children. She had made doughnuts for kids and as she was offering to this little boy, He said , “No I don’t want doughnuts, I want candy.” She got a big kick of this and laughed and laughed. We got a big laugh out of our dog Willee, while Penny, Sonny and David sang Happy Birthday to me..Willee joined in with his voice. He was going to sing to his MOMMY too!

He does pretty well for his age as he will soon be 15. He is so precious to us. Halloween will be over by this time this comes out. Hope it was fun and safe for everyone. Take care..M.L.T.A. October is coming to an end..Happy November!!
