By Lois Lumbra — 7/22… Looks like rain this morning, I will get started on my news before church. I will be on vacation this week from watering the flower barrels if we get rain every day. But will go around and dead-head them. The beetles have been getting their nourishment on our flowers around town, I knocked several of them off into a jar of soapy water, and that eliminated a few of them. Then there will be slugs eating my hosta’s next, they usually do their snacking after dark. I’m home from Church and it has started raining and cooled off.
7/21… Barbara Walker shared her news with me (thank-You!) She and 9 other retired Doctor’s and Nurses gathered at one of the ladies home in Hinesburg to congratulate and party with the last nurse to retire that they left behind as they retired. Everyone shared pot-luck and laughed and laughed until their sides ached. They all enjoy retirement and caught up on what each other was doing, they all had worked at the Evergreen Family Health place in Williston.
7/21… Bob Elbe and Vivian Deuso were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church with Pastor’s Bonnie Hovermann and Ed Sorrell officiating the service. Vivian’s daughter’s Robin Houle was Maid-of-honor, Zina Houle was Bridesmaid and Flower Girl. Best Man was Bob’s son, David Elbe. There were family and friends coming from Texas, Nevada, Virginia, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont. The reception was held at the Recreational Center Pavilion. Vivian and Bob had requested everyone bring a pot-luck dish to share instead of gifts, there was so much delicious food for the 45 guests that attended. I volunteered to make her wedding cake, which they wanted a carrot cake. Everyone had a wonderful time and taking care of all the flowers from Olga’s were Margie Harrocks, Zina and Anna Smith, also a special Thanks to Beaver Meadows for sharing their beautiful arrangements. It was a beautiful wedding and the weather was a bit hot but nice.
I was out visiting with Maggie Elkins Saturday morning and on my way home a little lady was out for a walk, I said good morning to her and one word led to another and I found out that she and her husband had purchased the house on Fuller Bridge Road from Jake Webster and Michelle Legault. Ken and Sharon Trani have moved here from Pennsylvania , they are recently retired and just love the area. Welcome to Montgomery!!! ALSO, Linda O’Connell’s daughter Lauren and I have met on the sidewalk this summer and have shared many nice moments and she came to church today and mentioned all the nice people she had met here in town. She will be heading to California soon to visit with her son and who knows what will happen, all good things we HOPE.

An usher is passing around a collection plate at a church wedding. He is explaining to each row as he offers the plate, I admit, it’s a bit extraordinary, BUT the bride’s father insisted on it.
Hope everyone enjoys the rain that we very much need. God Bless!! M.L.T.A. Hope this finds my Brother Bud Martin feeling much better… Love You!!!
