  • Land Records:
    • In-Person – Town Land Records are available for public inspection and title research in person during our office hours. No appointment necessary. Please review our Search & Retrieval Policy.
    • Online – Sign up with Cott Systems “Record Hub” to view our records online! Sign up for a subscription for your Title Research needs OR sign up without a subscription and simply pay as you go for land record copies. Click the link to access Record Hub.     • Town Meeting Day occurs annually on the first Tuesday in March at the Town Hall at 9:00am. Our town meeting articles & budget are voted “from the floor” during the meeting.

      • Montgomery Elementary, which is part of the Northern Mountain Valley Unified Union School District (NMVUUSD) conducts district business and budget approval by Australian ballot method on Town Meeting day.
      • Polling hours for all Federal, Statewide, & School District Elections held in Montgomery are from 10am-7pm.
      • The Town Office is always closed the day after elections for mandated reporting.
      • Election Notices: Physical copies of Election notices are posted in the Town Clerk’s office, the Public Safety Building, Village Post Office, and published online prior to all elections. Documents that are posted are as follows:

Additional Services & Town Information

  • Notarial Services: The Town Clerk also serves as a Public Notary and offers notarial service during regular office hours, you do not need an appointment. If you need notarial services outside of office hours please contact Sue Wilson 802-326-4189 or visit another local Town Clerk’s Office to obtain these services. Please ensure you have read your documentation carefully or consulted with your attorney and understand what you are signing; the Clerk is not verifying your documentation is legal, we are merely attesting that you have signed in our presence and are doing so under your legal identity and not under duress or stress. It is your responsibility to determine whether you may need to bring witnesses (if applicable) depending upon what documentation you are signing, please contact your attorney if you are unsure whether you need a witness.

  • Marriage Licenses: To obtain a Marriage License please fill out and bring in your completed Marriage License Application during our regular office hours-you do not need an appointment for this service. At least one party appearing on the marriage license must be present to sign the license in person in front of the Clerk issuing the license. It is no longer required that you obtain a marriage license from the specific Town in which you are getting married, you may now go to any VT Town Clerk’s Office for a marriage license regardless of which VT Town your marriage ceremony is taking place.
